We Need Adventurous Trekkers
Our landmark expedition the "Trans-Timor Trek" requires experienced trekkers to take part in an epic journey through remote mountainous communities in the heart of Timor-Leste.
A coast to coast trek through an ancient wilderness
Timor-Leste is a rugged, tropical island with a mountainous interior ripe for adventurous exploration. Earth Trails intends to complete a “coast to coast” expedition by foot starting in the Northside Capital of Dili, and finishing in the small fishing village of Betano on the Southside of the country. There has not been many well documented expeditions of this type before making this a tantalizing prospect for someone with keen sense of adventure. We will cover some unforgiving terrain through the central highlands section with a summit attempt of the highest mountain in Timor-Leste – Mt Ramelau (2986 m). The expedition nights will be mostly spent in villages along the journey mixing home stays with camping. The food along the way will be locally sourced fresh produce prepared by local people. Throughout the journey the team plans to conduct preventative strategies in battling Streptococcus A in order to reduce manifestations that may result in rheumatic heart disease. This may include collaboration with local health clinics on education and skills that are relevant to the local regions. Following the successful arrival into the South coastal town of Betano, we will be met by off-road vehicles that will take us to important historical locations of Suai and Balibo fort over the next two days while enjoying a well deserved stopover at natural hot springs to soothe any aches and pains. Our journey finishes where it all began in the capital Dili.
